There’s been much buzz surrounding the release date of PS5 following the announcement of Mark Cerny in mid-2019. And it’s been confirmed that the release date for PS5 is slated for late 2020.

Variants

On June 11, 2020, the PS5’s library showcase revealed two editions to be available for public use in late 2020. Sony released a base edition featuring a Blu-Ray Disc Drive and a Digital Edition that has no disc drive. 

Pricing may vary depending on buyer’s choices, but there’s no word yet if the Digital Edition will attract a lesser price.

The PlayStation 5 supports Ultra Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray and DVD. The DVD media support is only available on this console’s base variant.
