Are you a fan of fast-paced, engaging gaming? Surely, you know about the Crash Bandicoot franchise. And with the 2020 release, it’s guaranteed you’ll get more gaming in.
Since its first release in late 1996, Crash Bandicoot can be regarded as one of the best games to ever to hit consoles and other devices.
Here’s a lot more on what this game’s all about, and why we can’t wait for the latest installment to hit stores during the holidays in 2020.
Setting
Crash Bandicoot is set in the Wumpa Islands, a fictional archipelago where mutants and humans peacefully exist.
The location of this island was fictionally placed at the south of Australia, and other areas exist throughout the series.
Plot
The game follows the life and adventures of Crash, a Bandicoot with genetically-aided enhancements, Coco ,and his gang of other friends as they travel through time and space.
Crash is always at odds with Doctor Neo Cortex, his creator, who’s now a maniac. Dr Neo Cortex strives through several installments in the series to destroy Crash, as he perceives Crash to be a failed experiment.
Crash has to navigate his environment, defeat Dr. Neo Cortex, and stop his plan to dominate the world.
Several other spin-offs exist in this series, and there’re several other antagonists Crash has to defeat.
Releases
Crash Bandicoot
First shown at the E3 1996, Crash Bandicoot 1 is the first installment from Naughty Dog, the franchise’s pioneer developers.
This game surrounds the life of Crash Bandicoot after getting created by Dr. Cortex. This first installment also serves as the franchise’s major plotline from where other spin-offs emerge. It was first released on the PlayStation 1 console.
Cortex Strikes Back
Released a year after the first installment, Crash Bandicoot 2 was released and became a massive success too.
The Cortex Strikes Back installment features new movements to Crash such as high spinning jump, slide attacking, high rises, and more.
Warped
Crash Bandicoot Warped features several new levels in the series with more than two engines employed during its development.
Gamers now experienced more significant 3D imagery that encouraged greater immersion. Warped is also the first installment in the series with a real shadow for Crash Bandicoot.
Crash Team Racing
My personal favorite is Crash Team Racing. Which was originally released in 1999 and is the penultimate installment to feature exclusively on Sony devices.
It comprises of several exciting races and new characters, giving the franchise even more popularity.
Crash Bash
Released in 2000, Crash Bash is the last installment made for Sony consoles and handhelds. It builds on the plot of several other stories and supports some Crash Team Racing new tracks.
After the game scaled development and got its release, Naughty Dog and Eurocom transited to multi-platform Crash Bandicoot games.
Wrath of Cortex
Released in 2001, Wrath of Cortex was mainly developed by Traveller’s Tales, making it the first time Naughty Dog left the series.
The Huge Adventure
The Huge Adventure is Crash Bandicoot’s first installment to be released on the Game Boy Advance. Many gamers appreciated the design and plot of this game, leading to a sequel’s development and release.
N-Tranced
Sequel to The Huge Adventure, N-Tranced was released exclusively for the Game Boy Advance. It features several plots from The Huge Adventure and is considered one of Crash’s best installments.
Purple: Ripto’s Rampage
The Crash Bandicoot Spyro team-up features in Purple: Ripto’s Rampage. Following the tradition of earlier releases, this game will also receive positive reviews. It’s also the third installment to be released exclusively for the Game Boy Advance.
N Sane Trilogy
N Sane Trilogy for Crash Bandicoot is the franchise’s first-ever release on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. It’s also the first playstation 4 crash bandicoot bundle after its initial five installments.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled
Another Crash Bandicoot PS4 installment, CTR Nitro-Fueled is a massive success from the crash bandicoot racing series.
It features more exciting plotlines, exciting arcs, and is considered a successful spin-off from the main series.

It’s About Time
There’s been a massive outcry from the game’s diehard fans for a true sequel to Crash Bandicoot 1. That’s why the game developers announced Crash 4: It’s About Time for a 2020 release.
The game’s plot has been confirmed to follow the original story of Crash Bandicoot, Dr. Cortex, Uka Uka, and N. Tropy. It’s About Time has also been confirmed to be a platformer-oriented installment. It’s About Time is rumored to go for $60 when it finally releases in October.
Gameplay
The characters in Crash Bandicoot, mainly the protagonist were designed in earlier releases to back the gamers during gameplay. This design gave the franchise an original comic code name as Sonic’s Ass Game. A lot of other installments, including the racing-focused games will deviate from this setting.
But in general, most installments of the Crash series feature a third-person gameplay setting. Environments have varied through the series, and it’s rumored It’s About Time adds more quality to gamers’ experience.
