What we know so far:
Resident Evil Village is the 8th major installment in the survival horror series. We follow our main protagonist Ethan Winters (making his return from Resident Evil 7: BioHazard) as he tries to uncover the mysteries that plague a once peaceful village.
Resident Evil Village takes places years after the tragic events that occurred on a Louisiana plantation in the town of Dulvey. In the trailer we see that Ethan Winters has put the past behind him and is living a normal life with his wife Mia in peace. Suddenly we see Chris Redfield appear, apologizes to Ethan before excessively shooting his wife Mia in the head five times; throwing Ethan into a new horror filled nightmare.
New Enemies
The game will be featuring a host of new enemies including zombies, dogs, wolves, werewolves, and monsters that appear to be lickers. The main villain will be named Alan R.A Count who lives in a castle and is a member of “The Connections,” the crime association who created the Mold.
Location
Instead of the small spaces in the Baker mansion from Resident Evil 7, we are now immersed in a new setting filled with decrepit buildings among snow-covered trees, caves, forests, villages . We also get glimpses in the trailer of a rustic European castle on cliff set in fog. More than likely a set up to mind-bending puzzles and an epic boss fight.
Chris Looks Different
We have a dark, scruffy and more sinister looking Chris Redfield. Resident Evil 7 ended with Chris working with the eerie Blue Umbrella task-force. Will we get to see the-tactical-armor-wearing-swollen-arms we’ve grown to love? We’ll see! However given the hallucination leak it could be a nightmare sequence meant to make us unsure of what is real and what’s not.
Eveline 2.0?
If you remember Eveline from Resident Evil 7 she was an E-type bioweapon. It was previously mentioned that Ethan’s baby will be playing a part in the game but nothing was clear. The child is shown in a couple of trailers. Seeing that Ethan and his wife were both exposed to the mold organisms in Resident Evil 7 there is a chance the child would likely be a mold/human E-type bioweapon hybrid.
In short we are excited to see the newest installment to the Resident Evil series in 2021 and what better way to kickstart the series’ new vision with the release of the PS5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X.
